On December 14, 2024, Del Mastro Recreation proudly marked a major milestone — 30 years in business. What began in 1994 as a modest pre-owned vehicle dealership has grown into one of Peterborough and the Kawarthas’ most trusted, diversified, and community-rooted recreational brands.

From day one, Del Mastro has been a family-first business, founded on strong values, hard work, and a simple philosophy that still guides us today:

Del Mastro Motors was founded in late 1994 by Yvonne Del Mastro, the matriarch of the Del Mastro family, alongside her four sons — Doug, Michael, Dean, and Jason. While the dealership was new, automotive sales were already deeply rooted in the family.

Yvonne’s husband, Henry (Hank) Del Mastro, had spent his career as the general manager of another successful local car dealership. Hank had always dreamed of starting his own auto business, and after his passing, his family made that dream a reality.

Through integrity, customer care, and competitive pricing, Del Mastro Motors quickly became one of Peterborough’s most trusted new and used vehicle dealerships.

As the business matured, the Del Mastro family began shifting its focus from traditional automotive sales toward the recreational lifestyle they loved themselves — camping, riding, boating, and exploring Ontario.

That evolution led to the creation of Del Mastro Recreation, offering new and used travel trailers, fifth wheels, RV parts, and accessories. Today, Del Mastro Recreation is Peterborough’s home for leading brands including Keystone RV, Forest River, and other premium manufacturers.

Known for aggressive pricing and transparent deals, Del Mastro Recreation continues to offer some of the best RV values in Ontario, backed by a knowledgeable, family-run team.

Growth at Del Mastro has never been about expansion for expansion’s sake — it has always been about meeting real needs in our community.

Recognizing the Kawarthas’ long winters and rural makeup, the family identified a gap in high-quality, year-round vehicle care. This led to the launch of Del Mastro Auto Spa, providing premium car wash and detailing services when and where customers needed them most.

Seeing another unmet need, Del Mastro expanded into RV parts and accessories, offering both in-store and online sales across Canada.

As the business continued to grow beyond RVs, Del Mastro Recreation officially expanded into Del Mastro Recreation, uniting all of the family’s recreational brands under one banner.

Today, Del Mastro Recreation is proud to be Ontario’s #1 Pontoon Store, representing industry-leading brands Avalon, South Bay, and Bentley, all powered by Suzuki Motors.

Suzuki has been part of the Del Mastro story from the beginning. From outboards to motorcycles and powersports, we started with Suzuki engines and will always stand by their products for their reliability, performance, and unmatched value.

Our recreation family also includes Del Mastro’s Cameron Cycle, a full dealership and service operation specializing in motorcycles, ATVs, and side-by-sides. Cameron Cycle represents Suzuki and Kawasaki, and is proudly:

In addition, Horseshoe Bay Marina anchors our marine division, while Del Mastro Auto Spa continues to provide year-round premium vehicle care.

In 2006, Dean Del Mastro stepped away from the family business after being elected as the Member of Parliament for Peterborough, serving nine years in federal politics. That experience sharpened his leadership, strategic thinking, and understanding of economic change — tools that would later prove critical to the future of the business.

After 15 years away, Dean returned to Del Mastro at a pivotal time, alongside his wife Kelly Del Mastro, who plays an important role in supporting the leadership, culture, and long-term vision of the family business. As Principal Owner, he has spearheaded the next major leaps forward, guiding the company through a rapidly changing economic landscape while keeping Del Mastro strong, competitive, and future-focused.

Under Dean’s leadership, Del Mastro Recreation has expanded with purpose — prioritizing the right products, the right brands, and the best pricing, while never losing sight of what matters most: the customer experience. His focus remains on delivering unmatched value, long-term reliability, and an environment where customers feel confident, supported, and excited about their purchase.
